OraKids β Children's Dental Hygiene
Building healthy smiles from the very first tooth β in a fun, fear-free environment.
Dental Hygiene Visits Your Child Will Actually Enjoy
Good oral health habits formed in childhood last a lifetime. The OraKids program at ORA FIX Dentistry is designed specifically for children β from toddlers getting their first teeth cleaned all the way through to teenagers. Every appointment is relaxed, interactive, and genuinely fun.
Our hygienists are trained to work with children of all temperaments, including those who are anxious or have sensory sensitivities. We take the time to explain everything we're doing in terms children understand, and we always give them a sense of control over the appointment.
What's Included in an OraKids Appointment
- Gentle Dental Cleaning using the Guided Biofilm Therapy protocol, adapted for young patients
- Plaque Disclosure β we use a safe, coloured tablet to show your child exactly where plaque is hiding; it's educational and motivating!
- Fluoride Application (where clinically indicated) to strengthen developing enamel and prevent cavities
- Personalised Oral Hygiene Instructions β age-appropriate brushing and flossing guidance for both the child and their parent
- Diet Guidance β brief, practical tips on the foods and drinks that most affect children's dental health
- Fun & Positive Reinforcement β stickers, high-fives, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere every time
When should my child's first dental hygiene visit be? The Canadian dentists Association recommends that children see a dental hygienist within six months of their first tooth erupting, or by age one β whichever comes first. Early visits help establish good habits and allow us to catch any concerns early.
The Case for Early Dental Hygiene Care
Habits Last a Lifetime
Children who develop positive associations with dental care are far more likely to maintain good oral health habits into adulthood.
Early Detection
Regular hygiene visits allow us to catch emerging issues β misalignment, decay, and gum concerns β at their most treatable, earliest stages.
No Dental Fear
Children who visit a calm, friendly hygiene clinic early are far less likely to develop the dental anxiety that affects so many adults.
