Dental Sealant Application in Lahore
The chewing surfaces of your back teeth (molars and premolars) are covered in deep pits and grooves. These recesses are ideal hiding places for bacteria and food particles that a toothbrush simply cannot reach. Dental sealants seal these grooves shut, dramatically reducing the risk of cavities forming in the most decay-prone areas of your mouth.
The application is quick, completely painless, and requires no drilling or anaesthesia. Sealants are a smart investment — they are far less expensive than treating a cavity once it has formed.
The Application Process
- Cleaning — The tooth surface is thoroughly cleaned and dried before the sealant is applied.
- Preparation — A mild conditioning solution is applied briefly to help the sealant bond securely to the enamel.
- Application — The sealant — a thin, tooth-coloured liquid resin — is carefully painted into the grooves of the tooth.
- Curing — A small LED curing light is used to harden the sealant in just a few seconds.
- Check — Your hygienist checks your bite and makes any minor adjustments. You're done!
Who Should Get Dental Sealants?
- Children aged 6–14 (soon after permanent molars erupt)
- Adults with deep grooves and no existing fillings in back teeth
- Anyone with a history of frequent cavities in molar teeth
- Patients undergoing orthodontic treatment, where cleaning grooves becomes harder
Sealants can last up to 10 years with normal use. Your hygienist checks the condition of existing sealants at every hygiene visit and can top them up or reapply if needed.
